Mahesh Pawate-

This is story of a student who is slow learner but fast runner in a cricket ground. Prajwal got a call on Sunday late night from his friend in cricket ground asking him to get ready reach Sachin Tendulkar Ground in Ramsagar Nagar by 8.30am. The distance to the ground was just a 45 kms from his residence. He started from his home by 5.15am to catch the first metro to reach Majestic and to board a bus to the cricket ground. He bought a bus ticket due to unavailability of the daily bus pass.

While he was dreaming of his innings during his bus travel, he got a call from his friend informing cricket pitch was not ready to play a big match for the day and the match was cancelled.

So he immediately decided to get off the bus and return to his home. He got off and boarded a bus from Bommanahalli to Banashankari. He was not having an exact change to buy a ticket of Rs.20 and ended up paying Rs.500 note to the conductor.

The conductor replied hurriedly that ” I will give you the change in the last stop.” Prajwal took a nap for around 40 mins and he woke up when he heard an announcement from the conductor of the Banashankari stop.

Prajwal hurriedly got up from his nap and was getting ready to get off the bus. While the bus was slowing down he reached out to the conductor asking him for the change showing the note written balance amount written on the back of the ticket.

The conductor asked him to get off the bus while he was calculating the money to return to Prajwal. Prajwal got down from the bus and found that he had received only Rs. 200 instead of Rs.480.

When he asked for the remaining balance to the conductor, he found the bus started moving, while the ticket remained with the conductor.

Prajwal tried to chase the bus carrying the weight of his cricket kit, asking for remaining money. There was no response neither from the bus driver nor the conductor. Prajwal was disappointed with the behaviour of the conductor and the driver.

Prajwal returned home with* frustration of the match being cancelled at the last minute and for losing Rs.280.

He made up a mind to escalate this issue to the BMTC officials and tried searching for customer care contact.

Prajwal managed to contact the Depot Manager on his mobile number and narrated the incident. As per the instructions received from Depot Manager, he wrote a letter explaining his bad experience of travelling in a BMTC bus. He managed to send a written complaint to Depot Manager of BMTC Depot, Banashankari.

Prajwal narrated the incident in a letter and posted it to the concerned Depot Manager seeking his help to get his balance money back.

This incident helped Prajwal to learn a new life lesson of “Fight Back” in the real world when he was cheated by the bus conductor.

Prajwal wrote a letter to DM with very little help ( Help in correcting the spellings), but was able to express his disappointment in the letter while seeking help from the Officials.

I thank BET and all his teachers for making him able to express his views openly and fearlessly.
