Timings: The center works from 9:30 A.M to 2:30 P.M

Please note: This year too we have reopened in an ONLINE mode.

Overview

This center has children in the age group 7 to 18 years. We have a day program for early intervention starting at 7 years. NIOS Secondary and Senior Secondary are offered at this center.

We observe that many children drop out from school due to poor scholastic performance. It is of extreme concern when a child who is skilled in self-help, motor, communication and social areas becomes unsuitable to an age-appropriate class because he or she is found to be lacking in typical academic aspects.

We believe that, this could also occur due to issues in the learning process. On the other hand, some children find it difficult to meet the demands of a mainstream school due to deficits in socio-emotional skills and/or academic skills.

At the Brindavan Junior Centre, we aim to redress the learning process to cater to 7-18 year old children with specific education needs in the academic areas of:

  • Oral receptive/expressive language
  • Reading
  • Comprehension
  • Handwriting
  • Spelling
  • Written expression
  • Mathematics

Programme Details:

7 to 13 years

  • Development of Skills: in defined academic areas through remedial training methods and techniques to suit the unique learning styles of the children.
  • Development of Socio-Emotional Learning: through a variety of activities including theatre, art, circle time and sports
  • Formulation of Individualized Educational Plans: for every child followed by regular monitoring of his/her progress.
  • Customized Text Materials and Worksheets: developed by the teachers to suit the functioning level of the children.
  • Regular Parent-Teacher Interaction: to discuss the child’s progress and plan further.
  • Extracurricular Activities: including yoga, karate, story-telling, and organized indoor and outdoor games.
  • Counselling Sessions: for students and parents

13 to 18 years:

Our focus is to guide them through school completion using the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) curriculum. We have regular parent-teacher interactions. Upon completion of the course at the Secondary Level and Senior Secondary Level, the students join mainstream colleges at intermediate/pre-university or degree levels. Our students have moved on to pursue courses in Arts, Commerce, Hotel Management, Fine Arts, Law, Montessori training, culinary arts, fashion design and animation. Many of our students are employed in varied fields like jewellery making, hotel management, bakery, pre-primary schools, and wild-life photography.

We focus on enhancing:

  • Oral language skills
  • Reading skills
  • Comprehension abilities
  • Written expression
  • Study skills
  • Socio-emotional learning (life skills)

The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) is an autonomous organization set up by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. Our programme is implemented at 3 levels:

  • Pre-NIOS: A preparatory course to develop skills in academic areas leading to the NIOS curriculum.
  • NIOS-Secondary Level (10th Standard): Our programme targets 2 to 3 subjects in a year from the NIOS curriculum, thus implementing the flexibility provided by NIOS to allow students to complete 10th Grade over a period of 2/3 years.
  • NIOS-Senior Secondary Level (11th and 12th Standard): This programme is carried out over a period of 2/3 years as required by the NIOS board. Each year 2 to 3 subjects are taken up for study. It suits students who require continued support in academic areas and are not keen on joining mainstream PU colleges.
  • Along with academics, we provide opportunities for students to participate in other activities like multimedia, mindfulness/life skills sessions, theatre, baking, literature and art/crafts clubs.

Our son Sai Samanyu got admission at Brindavan in 2017. They welcomed him with open arms, their minds filled with tolerance & dedication to mould our child. It's been a journey filled with anxious moments for us but the teachers & staff of Brindavan have really made a world of difference to us. Their unconditional moral support, love, affection & commitment cannot be measured or described by parents. Their "never say give up" attitude & approach enforce the much needed trust & faith in the parents too. Today the dream of our child going to a school has come true & made possible by the Brindavan team. We are indebted to the entire staff & supporting teams and pray to the almighty to bless them & their families with longevity, good health & happiness. A big thank you.

I was wondering where to get an admission for my son who is having a lot of difficulties at school. When diagnosed by experts, he turned out to be a slow learner and had Dyslexia. Finally, after a lot of research, everyone suggested Brindavan.

First of all, at Brindavan they all teach with their heart and not just for the sake of knowledge. I saw each teacher take care of the kids as their own, They laugh when kids laugh and I see they cried when a kid cried. My kid is very happy. The teaching staff are very good at nurturing and developing the children's academic skills, as well as social interaction and productive play. My kid’s progress is amazing. He really enjoys coming to school.

I wish all the best for all Brindavan staff and teachers who made my son Akash to grow from kid to a good human being and to build his career.
