Jayanagar Centre
Overview
The centre works from 9:30 AM to 2:30 PM
We believe that every child is a learner. When children are in an environment that is conducive to their needs, the child learns at a speed and pace that is comfortable to them.
This centre has children in the age group of 7 to 15 years. The program (content and timings) is catered and tailored to the levels of support that the children need.
For all children, the program focuses on
- Skill Development –In the areas of oral language (expressive and receptive), reading and reading comprehension, writing which includes handwriting, spelling and written expression, Mathematics and Concept (Environmental Science / Science / Social Studies). The teaching is imparted through methods and techniques that suit the learning style of the children.
- Development of Social Emotional Learning: The development of social emotional competencies is as crucial as academic development; and is given the appropriate focus in the school environment.
- Formulation of Individualized Educational Plans (IEP):An IEP is drawn for every child that details the goals set for them and is followed by regular monitoring of his / her progress.
- Customized Text Materials and Worksheets: These are developed by the teachers to reinforce what has been taught in the class and also as a means of revision / assessment, as the case maybe. These materials are made keeping the functioning level of the children.
- Non-Academic Skills: Skills such as music, dance, sports, art and craft, circle time, theatre are built into the curriculum, for the holistic development of the child.
In addition, we also emphasise on collaboration between the child, school, parents and the medical professional. This is crucial for the sustenance of the child’s well-being and growth.
Regular Parent-Teacher Interaction: To discuss the child’s progress and plan as appropriate and to execute the lessons and skills taught in the classroom for reinforcement at home. Parent-teacher interactions are conducted in a periodical manner.
Informal Conversations: Keeping the emotional and mental well-being of the children, informal conversations happen with the child, which helps in keeping a communication channel open with the child. This helps the child to understand that they are listened to and for them to share their thoughts freely.
Consistent Guidance by Medical Professional (s): There are some children who need the consistent guidance of medical professionals (Counsellor / Therapist / Psychiatrist), to enable them to journey through the different phases, with as much ease and comfort as possible.
